FAQ – NuStep T5XR

A low step through and adjustable arm length and digital heart rate handles are all the same between both the NuStep T5 and T5XR.  The T5XR is an upgraded system beyond the T5, which includes an adjustable, reclining seat back and 40° hand grip rotation to ensure that the T5XR is comfortable for the user.

The T5XR software includes more preset options for fitness beyond rehab, including Target Heart Rate, for a total of 13 programs!  The T5XR includes a standard foot secure system, not available on the T4 or T5 models, which can be paired with the other inclusivity accessories.

The T5XR has many of the same features of the T6, including the low step through and adjustable seat and hand grip rotation. The biggest difference that clinicians and users will notice right away is the console. The T5XR has the traditional LCD colour display and includes Quick Start/Manual, Profiles, Pace Partners, Target Heart Rate, Constant Speed/Power, and other exercise protocols.

The T6 has the new Dual-screen touch display, with fewer software choices: no Target Heart rate, Constant Speed/Power, or Exercise Protocols.  The T6 does include the upgraded workout charts. Another important distinction is that the T6 must be plugged in.

Up to 600 lbs (272 kg), making it excellent for bariatric, rehab, and inclusive patient care.

The T5XR uses an internal battery system for console operation — plug-in may be used depending on configuration and load.  If the NuStep isn’t used for a while, you may need to plug it in for a moment to boost the system with the included AC adapter.

Yes, the stride length is user-configurable, up to 8.5″ (21.5 cm), enabling ergonomic adaptation to each user’s needs.

The T5XR offers 15 resistance levels and program modes including Constant Power, Isokinetic, Profile, Target Heart Rate, Pace Partner, and more.

Yes. The seat reclines up to 10°, fully rotates 360° (locking every 45°), and accommodates users from about 4’6″ to 6’7″ in height.

Optional add-ons include leg stabilizers (unilateral or bilateral), WellGrips for hand support, flex foot systems, hip/torso belts, and transporters.

Footprint is 73″ × 30″ × 46″ (185 × 76 × 117 cm).

These models are produced by NuStep, a U.S.-based company specializing in recumbent cross trainers, recumbent bikes and ergometers.
