The professional BTL 4000 Series therapeutic ultrasound system is designed for Canadian physiotherapy, chiropractic and rehabilitation clinics. Available in Smart and Premium configurations, both systems offer 1 MHz, 3 MHz, and alternating-frequency modes, preset protocols, and 5cm ergonomic heated applicators. The exceptionally low BNR of 2.2–3 ensures consistent output. BTL Ultrasound is also available combined with IFC or low-level laser therapy.
Dual-frequency Therapeutic Ultrasound for Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Clinics
The BTL 4000 Series Ultrasound systems are designed and manufactured in Europe for clinics that need reliable, professional-grade therapeutic ultrasound with flexible treatment settings, dual-frequency operation and ergonomic applicators. Available as standalone ultrasound units or as combination therapy systems, the BTL 4000 Series allows clinics to select the configuration that best matches their treatment approach.
BTL ultrasound supports 1 MHz, 3 MHz, and alternating-frequency modes, giving clinicians flexibility for a wide range of therapeutic ultrasound applications. Treatments can be customized with ease, offering a modular frequency range of 10–150 Hz, a duty factor of 5–100%, and a maximum intensity of 2 W/cm² in continuous mode and 3 W/cm² in pulsed mode.
BTL ultrasound systems are designed with a low BNR (Beam Non-Uniformity Ratio) of 2.2–3. In practical terms, a lower BNR helps ensure more consistent ultrasound output and is the best indicator of an ultrasound system's quality. A low BNR is an important specification for clinics that want predictable, consistent ultrasound delivery.
Clinics can choose between the Smart and Premium configurations. Smart models include a 4.3” colour touchscreen and alphabetical protocol access. Premium models add a 7” colour touchscreen, adjustable QUICK protocols, Body Parts navigation, patient database functionality and a rotary knob for intensity adjustment.
Who can benefits from a BTL 4000 Series Ultrasound?
Physiotherapy clinics
Useful for clinics treating soft-tissue, tendon, joint, and muscle conditions where therapeutic ultrasound is part of the treatment plan.
Chiropractic clinics
Supports clinics that want a modality option for pain management, muscle relaxation and adjunct treatment before or after manual therapy.
Sports medicine and rehabilitation
Helpful for treating active patients with soft-tissue injuries, chronic irritation, tendinopathies, or recovery-focused treatment needs.
Multi-disciplinary wellness
Beneficial for clinics that want a professional ultrasound device that can be selected as a standalone ultrasound or as part of a combo system with IFC or low-level laser therapy.
Mechanism of Action
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to deliver energy into tissue. In continuous mode, ultrasound can produce thermal effects that support myorelaxation and increased soft tissue extensibility in subacute or chronic conditions. In pulsed mode, ultrasound can be used for non-thermal effects associated with tissue healing, pain relief and oedema or hematoma management.
BTL ultrasound systems are designed with a low BNR of 2.2–3, helping to reduce beam irregularity and support a more even ultrasound field. A lower BNR means the ultrasound beam is more homogenous across the transducer head, helping reduce the intensity peaks that can occur with less uniform beams.
Safety features such as real-time feedback, visual contact status, and auto-shutoff if improper contact is detected support busy clinics using the BTL ultrasound to provide effective ultrasound therapy.
For clinics adding HandsFree Sono applicators, BTL Rotary Field Technology further supports even ultrasound dosage distribution by activating multiple ultrasound crystals in a rotating ultrasound field
