How does shockwave work?

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful areas and soft tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. This energy promotes the healing, regenerating and reparative processes. It’s a unique, non-invasive solution for pain associated with the musculoskeletal system. Just 3-4 treatments are needed at weekly intervals; each session duration is approximately 10 minutes.

Some common indications

• Heel spurs & plantar fasciitis
• Achilles tendinitis & bursitis
• Tibialis anterior syndrome
• Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
• Trochanteric bursitis
• Painful shoulder (calcification, tendinitis, impingement syndrome)
• Tennis/Golfer’s elbow
• Exostoses of small hand joints in case of grade 1 arthrosis
• Trigger points

Medical Effects

• Decreases muscle tension and Inhibits muscle spasms by increasing blood flow to the affected area as well as lessening pathological interactions between actin and myosin.
• Enhances dispersion of Substance P (a pain mediator and growth factor). The reduction of its concentration reduces pain in the affected area and decreases the risk of developing oedema.
• Increases production of collagen.
• Improves the metabolism and microcirculation. SWT technology accelerates the removal of nociceptive metabolites, increases oxygenation, and supplies damaged tissue with a source of energy.
• Dissolves calcified fibroblasts
