Professionals are finding that the unweighting component provided by the Pneu-Weight™ and Pneu-Lift ™ is remarkably useful for accelerating rehab because you can begin low-impact functional exercises during the acute stage without the pain normally induced by gravitational stress. This decrease in gravitational force, plus the security of knowing a fall is not possible, allows the patient to perform activities with fewer compensatory strategies, stimulates a more normal gait pattern, and allows progress that would normally take longer or not be possible. Depending on the patient’s level of physical ability, you can use the Balance Mode (allowing a drop of 6” only) or the Exercise Mode (allowing a larger range of controlled movement). Walking, running, stair climbing, jumping and balance exercises may all be performed safely.
The Pneumex unweighting systems, using a small compressor to provide pneumatic power and the Pneu-Vest™ to support the patient, allow the translatory movements associated with normal gait. The percent of body weight supported is precisely controlled by the clinician (10-300 lbs), and the body has a 30” oscillation range allowing your patient to walk, run, perform step-ups and step-downs, re-train from sitting to standing, and do full or partial squats, while in the Exercise Mode setting. The Pneu-Weight™ makes lateral and retro walking/running extremely easy and safe for the patient, giving the therapist a magnified picture of, for example, muscle weakness affecting gait. You will find the vests comfortable and easy to use for all ages. Whether your clientele is in the category of orthopaedics / sports medicine, neurological, or arthritic conditions, the sophisticated technology in the Pneu-Weight™ and Pneu-Lift ™ Systems make them a tremendous asset in knee, hip, and ankle rehab; chronic and acute back problems; gait training; proprioceptive/balance rehab; and cardiovascular conditioning.
The Balance Mode setting is a feature unique to Pneumex Unweighting Systems. When the Balance Mode is activated, if a patient loses their balance, their body will be supported and will only be let down about six inches, thus avoiding re-injury resulting from a fall.
The Pneu-Weight™ is available in Single, Double, Triple and Quadruple stations. The Single Pneu-Weight can have more stations added on at a later date. The Double, Triple and Quadruple stations give you the option to incorporate different pieces of equipment such as the Pneu-Back Chair™, treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical stepper, etc… into your Unweighting treatment sessions. Each station is self-sufficient and has its own set of controls, so multiple treatments can be run simultaneously.
Also available is the Pneu-Lift™ for home use and smaller clinics.
