Not only should the HUR products deliver outstanding results for the user but also provide an unparalleled return on investment for the Fitness Club, Physiotherapy Clinic or for the Research Community.
HUR started out as a Research project at the University of Technology in Helsinki, Finland. The outcome was the Natural Transmission™, a unique mechanism that replaces the cams used in weight stack machines. These ball-bearing transmissions mimic the function of human biomechanics, causing virtually no muscle soreness, as well as being more reliable than cables and cams. From its conception, HUR has been carrying out research in training for the ageing population and for corporate fitness. Presently the collaborative project between Jyväskylä University and HUR aims to broaden the understanding of the effects of exercise on elderly, to map the contraindications to exercise and to develop a scientific base for making exercise programs for elderly persons.
Ideal for rehab and senior fitness application, these well-designed exercise machines optimize training of muscles and minimize load on joints and connective tissue. The ergonomically -shaped back supports and double- padded seating is really comfortable. Simple seating adjustments lock into position. The stations are quiet because there are no weight stacks; an oil-based compressor drives them. Their smooth resistance is constant in all parts of movement arcs, with no impact load at initiation of movement. They are not intimidating because they are aesthetically pleasing, and because only the user can see their own resistance level.
Features
- Smooth, quiet, air- powered resistance has "0" starting weight, with 1 lb increment changes so rehab can begin almost immediately after an operation
- Attractive design complements any decor
- No exposed pistons, pulleys, weight stacks, etc.
- Dual and single function units available
- On the dual function units, flipping a lever changes movement direction. This will zero the resistance for safety and upon pressing the plus button, the lever arms will move in the other direction. In many machines the dual function feature can also be used as an easy entry feature.
- Large push buttons for adjusting resistance
- Some machines have been specially designed to counter the effects of sedentary office work
- Ergonomically shaped back supports protect the spinal column during exercise
- Resistance adjustment from training position
